Cripple Creek Candy & Variety Owners are Lou and Pat Goldman
Lou is from California where he worked as an engineer for Pepsi for 27 years. He moved to Colorado and retired from Pepsi. Pat is from New York and moved to Colorado several years ago. She retired as an RN after 35 years of nursing. After moving to Cripple Creek we decided we'd like to open a business. We always remembered the local candy store when we were growing up. We decided to open a candy store so the children of Cripple Creek would have a memory of a candy store like we had when we were growing up.
Much of the candy is made at the store - Toffee, Peanut Brittle, Turtles, Peppermint Bark, Almond Bark, Cinnamon Bark, Coconut Peanut Brittle, several flavors of fudge and much more.
It's a little tricky making candy at this altitude, nearly 10,000 feet above sea level. All of the recipes need to be adjusted to some degree. Our Peanut Brittle is packed full of nuts - in every little bite you will find a peanut.
Cripple Creek is a neat little town with lots of friendly people. The usual retirement mode is not for us - doing what we enjoy and making people happy is what makes life special.
